Custom made for model Liberty Ross, with the help of Owen Gaster, Johnny Rocket's caged crystal encrusted dress is based on a design of intriguing contrasts and contradictions: hard and soft, organic and industrial, Art Nouveau and Art Deco. A stark fringe of jet and crystal chandelier drops runs over the shoulder and around the back, while body lines of black chrome are swarming with gigantic, intricately modelled insects, hovering dragonflies, beetles, and bees. "This is more a body sculpture than a piece of jewellery. The cage literally embraces Liberty, it is held on purely by tension. I have tried to cross-breed Art Nouveau with Art Deco, Miro with Hepworth, procreating a new form from old DNA".
