Dove of Peace

Inspiration for Luigi Scialanga's emotive, ethereal catwalk jewel clearly comes from fine jewellery, seen in his sculpted figurative forms and exquisitely sensitive use of Swarovski crystal jewellery stones. But the idea came from watching the pigeons in the piazzas in Rome; amongst the birds he saw one white pigeon, which reminded Luigi of the dove, the symbol of peace. Luigi Scialanga's intricate design was brought to life by the workshops of Marangoni, Milan. "At first, I didn't think I could sculpt with light, but the material had its own life, and took me by surprise. It is a highly contemporary material, yet it possesses a memory of history."
